UAA Summer Engineering Academies

STEM-themed summer ACADEMIES being offered in-person or ONLINE by UAA. Week-long camps for students entering grades 3-12.

Sessions may include:

  • 3D Modeling
  • Coding with Scratch
  • Coding with Minecraft
  • Corrosion
  • Robotics
  • Structure Destruction
  • Videography
  • And more!
The UAA Summer Engineering Academies are a series of fun, hands-on, and engineering-themed summer camps for elementary, middle and high school students. Last summer, the Academies moved completely online, and received overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants and families. This is a great way to flex those learning muscles over the summer and increase interest in science, technology, engineering, and math.

If the camps end up being offered online, they will feature:
  • Pre-recorded video lectures and activities led by UAA faculty, which can be accessed at any time;
  • Live lectures and activities for several hours per week led by UAA faculty;
  • One-on-one and group assistance through video calls and voice calls with College of Engineering students;
  • Free online tools and software;
  • Opportunities for teamwork and collaboration; and
  • Progressively difficult activities that lead to an end-of-week project.
The camps come at a reasonable cost, and tuition waivers are available for families who need them. The application will open in early March. You can learn more at www.uaa.alaska.edu/sea or by emailing sea@alaska.edu
