About Mrs. Kalea Hogate
I was raised in the Mat-Su Valley and consider it a privilege to teach in the place I've always called home. I grew up camping, fishing, and playing sports in the best place on earth. Now I have the opportunity to give back to the community that has supported me throughout life.
I attended school in state because my ties to family and Alaska are so strong. I received a bachelors degree in English and a minor in Communication from the University of Alaska Anchorage. I completed my teaching certification and a Masters in Secondary Education at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.
In addition to teaching, I enjoy biking, hiking, and teaching swimming lessons during the summers. I have a seven year old Golden Retriever named Sampson and I got married in September.
This is my ninth year teaching at Wasilla High School. Before that I taught at Wasilla Middle School. I really enjoy the students and staff here. They've made me feel like part of the family since day one. It is great to wake up each day and look forward to teaching students. My mission is to improve lives by helping others see the positive. Make the most of your time here at WHS!
