    Responses:

    ·         I liked almost everything: the teacher, the fellow classmates, the senior slide show, and Photoshop itself. I loved going through every chapter in the book because I learned something new in every chapter.

    ·         There was plenty of time for the lessons and then we had a lot of time to work on the final projects!

    ·         I liked that we were able to do our work at our own pace.

    ·         The curriculum was great I had a lot of fun and learned well among others.

    Responses:

    ·         Enjoy and be creative.

    ·         This class is a great class, you learn so much and you actually look forward to class.

    ·         The first couple months just do the lessons from the book and then you have the rest of the time just to enjoy yourself by making your final project and just experiment around with Photoshop CS3. Also I would like to advise them to take the Photoshop CS3 test to get certified if they can, because not everyone has such a great chance like this.

    ·         Try not to forget what you learn here!

Question: What was your favorite thing about this class?

    Responses:

    ·         Lots of time to explore Photoshop.

    ·         Showing the projects that we created.  Also designing the senior slideshow.

Question: What was your favorite thing about this class?

Question: What worked well in this class?

    Responses:

    ·         Everything was very well organized and I felt I learned quite a bit.

    ·         The class was well scheduled out and if you were to miss a day or a week you knew exactly what to do to catch up.

    ·         I enjoyed the discussion times that we had on Fridays. I thought it was a great way to get people to interact and voice their opinions.

    ·         One of the few classes I have where the teacher is very helpful. I learned a lot in this class and I liked how it was taught.

    ·         The weekly packets, the communication, the one-on-one help, the group work, the teacher!!!!

    ·         There was a methodic way of accomplishing work and deadlines were fairly placed. The Alice project was definitely worth it.

    ·         I think working on our own worked really well, for some of us. I liked the powerpoints that we did for every chapter.

    ·         I thought that the assignments we got were a great method for learning about the subjects.

Question: What advice do you have for next year’s class?

    Responses:

    ·         The text book is your best friend.

    ·         Do your work, and read the book before doing the packet.

    ·         Do the work and extra credit when you can. Use your resources on the quizzes and they aren't that difficult.

    ·         If you do all your work according to the schedule and do so diligently, the class is fairly easy. Read the textbook and listen to the teacher.

    ·         Take advantage of the extra credit opportunities.

    ·         Get and stay ahead on your packets so then you don't have as much homework.

    ·         If you want to learn something you have to study. Because I just skimmed and I didn't learn that much.

    ·         Do the work when it's assigned.

    ·         Be very organized. This class takes work, but if you are organized and prepared, there won't be any homework.

    ·         It is a good class to take if computers are your passion, if you already know lots on computers this would still be a good class to take, it is moderately easy but harder in some places.

    ·         Just keep up with the work and you'll do fine.

    ·         Do the packets and listen to the teacher, the class will go smoother.

    ·         Work hard and don't slack off. Stay focused otherwise you will fall behind very quickly.

    ·         Learning new things.

    ·         The group work and the fact that if we asked you for help we got the help we needed.

    Feedback from Demii (Spring 2010)

[Submitted by Demii Lockes, Class of 2010]

We have all asked ourselves this question many times during our days of being in school, why am I taking this class?  Will I ever use it?  I know I asked myself that question so many times, whether it was a required class or not.

When you are in a class and you ask yourself that or think I will never use this later in life, take a second and actually think about it.  I applied for a Graphic Designer Administrator Assistant position and went in for an interview.  Sandy (the owner) was interviewing me; she asked lots of questions some directly related to the job some just about me.  She asked me to tell her about myself, and what classes I had taken that I felt would help me if I was to have the job position.

I told her I was 17 years old, a senior at Career Technical High School, the third child in my family, loved to design things on the computer and was looking at going to college in this career field. She asked me what programs I had learned to use and where did I learn them from, I told her I had taken Information Technology and Tech Apps 1 my sophomore year from Mrs. Riddle.  My junior year I took Tech Apps 2, Web Design and Advanced Web Design from Mrs. Riddle.  And I was currently in Desktop Publishing 1 and Yearbook, and that I would be taking Desktop Publishing 2 next semester. I informed her I had not taken the class for Photoshop yet but I knew how to use it.  She paused and said well how did you learn it?  I replied, when I was in and Advanced Web Design with Mrs. Riddle, she had the class make websites from a blank canvas to our master piece.  With just playing in Photoshop and with others help I learned new tricks which also allowed me to be accepted into the Yearbook class. I told her I knew HTML code, FrontPage, Dreamweaver and some Dynamic HTML.  She asked me for my personal opinion, which would I recommend for a Graphic file, which would I use if I was a viewer: a PDF file or a Word Document? I told her I did not like PDF files and as a viewer not everyone has the version it requires or even the application. So I would recommend a Word doc.

I knew there was competition for this job position and I was up against five other girls who were not in school and could work anytime and knew some of the things I did. She asked me why I wanted to do this, I told her I love to design things,  I cannot draw to save my life but I can on a computer and it will help me figure out if I want to go to college for it.  In my gut I really thought I did not land the interview and she told me she would call me and let me know the next day what her decision was.  I went home not so confident about it which was unusual for me but I tried not to think about it.

The next day I got a call about 5 p.m.  It was Sandy asking me if I would accept the job.  I had never been happier.  I owe this job and a really special thanks to Mrs. Riddle for getting me to take the classes I had and not letting me give up when it got hard! I am now a graphic designer for Alaska Choice Publishing and I love my job!  Thanks Mrs. Riddle!
