HEALTH BENEFITS - MSEA

    MSEA employees that are half-time (0.50 FTE) or more may elect in health insurance coverage in one of the plans listed below upon hire or during open enrollment in the Spring. Contact the Payroll Department if you have any questions about health insurance eligibility, plans, or premiums.  


SUPPLEMENTAL BENEFITS - MSEA

      Health Savings Account

      • Employees who participate in a qualified HDHP and do not have other coverage are generally eligible to contribute to an HSA. 

        An HSA allows you to set aside money pre-tax to help pay for eligible medical expenses. Your contributions can build year over year and any interest you earn will grow tax free.   

        According to the IRS, to be eligible to contribute to an HSA you must meet the following requirements:

        • You are covered under a qualified high deductible health plan
        • Are not covered by another non-HSA eligible health plan 
        • Are not enrolled in Medicare or Tricare
        • Are not being claimed as a dependent on someone else's tax return

        The IRS sets annual contribution limits for each calendar year.

        2024 Calendar Year HSA Contribution Limits:

        Self-only HDHP coverage: $4,150

        Family HDHP coverage: $8,300

        Individuals 55 and over may contribute an extra $1,000 for catch-up contributions.

      Tax Sheltered Annuity/Omni

        All employees are eligible to make their own contributions to a 403(b) or 457(b) account.  

        The OMNI Group is the 403(b) and 457(b) benefit administrator for the District. OMNI is an independent third-party administrator dedicated to ensuring that the district, its employee participants, and each of our investment providers and their agents adhere to the many compliance regulations issued by the IRS.  You may contact OMNI by visiting their website www.omni403b.com or by phone at 1-877-544-OMNI. To submit a Salary Reduction Agreement with Omni, you can view the Omni TSA Contribution procedures to begin pre-tax or after-tax payroll deductions into a 403(b) or 457(b). 

        MSEA 1% Match Information

        The District will match MSEA employee contributions up to 1% of the employee's annual salary in a supplemental retirement account, which can be a 403(b) or 457(b) account. Eligible employees may elect for District matching contributions to a 403(b) or 457(b) account of their choice. To elect for District matching contributions, you will need to complete the MSEA 1% Retirement Contribution Election form. Please use your District provided email address on the form. Once you submit the form, you will receive an email to verify your identity. Upon completion, this form is then routed to the payroll department. Once your eligibility and the 1% District contribution amount is determined, you will receive a finalized copy of the form emailed to you.

        Once you have set up a 403(b) or 457(b) account with an investment provider, you should then submit a Salary Reduction Agreement (SRA) form through our third-party administrator, The Omni Group. The SRA should only include the employee contribution amount. Please be sure to select Recurring Contributions on the form, as the contributions will be spread out throughout the year. 

        It generally takes The Omni Group at least 2 weeks to report SRA changes to Payroll. Payroll deductions begin upon notification your account has been opened.

        Employees electing to cash in the value of their paid time off or sick leave, should complete the MSEA Supplemental Retirement Leave Cash In form. These days will be deducted from your accruals upon submitting the form. The value of your leave will be contributed to your 403(b) or 457(b) account on the June 15th payroll.
