Suzette Smith, Braille Transcriber & Paraprofessional

 

Suzette Smith has worked with the Program for the Visually Impaired since 2007. She is a Nationally Certified Braille Transcriber, and works as the district Braille Transcriber. She received certification from the intensive Literary Braille Transcribing Course sponsored by the National Federation of the Blind and the Jernigan Institute. 

 

Suzette graduated with a degree from Mat-Su Community College in 2006. She joined the Program for the Visually Impaired as a Vision Paraprofessional in Fall 2007. As such, she reads, writes, transcribes, and teaches braille reading and writing. She makes tactile maps, graphs, and charts, assists with Nemeth Braille code (braille math), and works with students all over the school district.
