New procedures in speech therapy due to COVID-19:
-larger classroom (downstairs across from 1st grade)
-increased distance between students during therapy
-grouping students by classroom, as much as possible
-wearing masks or shields in speech therapy as much as possible
-reduced amount of shared materials
-sanitizing tables and chairs between groups
-”plexiglass” barriers between students and between student/teacher
There are some instances when we may need to remove our masks or we may need to ask your student to remove his/her mask. For example, when we demonstrate correct speech sound production, or during articulation or language testing. Please contact me if you have concerns and we will develop a plan for your child.
At the end of each quarter, you will receive a progress report from speech/language therapy. If you do not receive this progress report, or if you have questions or concerns at any time, please email me at sheila.supina@matsuk12.us or call me at 864-2121. My room is downstairs, across from the 1st grade classrooms.
I’m looking forward to a great year of speech therapy with your student, no matter where or how we are learning!
