Ms. Frannie Christensen

I'm Ms. Frannie. I am the English learner case manager working with Meadow Lakes Elementary students and staff. My role is to support students, teachers, and families is helping students reach academic language proficiency in English in the areas of listening, speaking, reading and writing. I also serve as an advocate for the specific needs of your child and family.

Did you know that raising bilingual children is one of the greatest gifts you can give your child?  There are many benefits to being bilingual.  Being bilingual is good for your child’s brain, and it makes communicating with grandparents and relatives easier.  It also increases working memory along with gains in visuospatial tasks. I encourage you to help your child to continue to develop their home language as they continue to develop their English language skills.

One of the most important things that you can do at home to support your child’s education is to read with them for 20 minutes every day. You can read to them (in English or your home language) or have them read to you or to their brothers and sisters. Reading every day will help your child develop a love for reading, and it will help them develop the reading skills they need to be successful in school. If you need books to read at home, please let me know!

If you need an interpreter to communicate with anyone at school or for a meeting, please let me know and I will make arrangements to provide an interpreter for you.

I look forward to working with you to help your child excel!
