Degrees and Certifications:

Mr. Mike Main

Please allow me to introduce myself and share a few highlights.  I was born in Florida, lived in Texas, California, Oklahoma and Colorado.  In 1976 my family moved to Oregon, where I graduated from high school in 1987.  After high school I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and deployed to the Persian Gulf for Operations Desert Shield/Desert Storm in 1990-1991.  I was honorably discharged and promptly went to Sitka to work as a commercial fisherman—and got my first real taste of Alaska.  Later, I returned to Oregon. In 1996, I  moved to Idaho and started Sawhorse Construction with my wife.  In 2007, I enlisted in the Idaho National Guard where I served as an active duty soldier training other soldiers for deployment to Iraq.  I, myself, deployed to Afghanistan in 2008 and Iraq in 2010-2011.  Upon returning home from my last deployment we decided to move to Alaska which has turned out to be the best decision we could have made.  I mention all of this to help emphasize the point that, though I have done many, many things in my life, not a single one has been more rewarding than working with your youngsters.  I am indeed humbled by the fact that I get to participate in their journey as students and I thank you for trusting such a precious resource to me.
