Mrs. Dawn. Vallely
Hi! Welcome Back! I missed being in the classroom and I am looking forward to the weeks to come! If you haven't met me, my name is Dawn Vallely. I was born in the village of Fort Yukon, Alaska and am Gwich'in Athabaskan. My mother is Athabaskan and Aleut and my father is from Northern California. After I graduated with my degree in Elementary education, I stayed home to raise my 11 children, many of whom are disabled or live with challenged learning. When I realized that I was going to ending that phase of my life, I decided to finish my Masters in Special Education. Last year was my first year at Snowshoe and being a Resource teacher gives me the opportunity to support and encourage many children.
While in my room your students will focus on their individual needs. I use the district curriculum and can modify it as needed. To support me I am asking for communication. If there are areas where your student needs extra support, or especially struggles it helps me to know! If your student struggles with sleep, self-esteem, or has experienced trauma in the past it is helpful for me to know. Working in small groups sometimes helps a student to process situations from the past. Returning from the extended break presents an opportunity for growth in kindness and a team attitude.
If you have any questions it is best to e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or call or text (907)351-8942. I look at my messages until 7:00p.m. After 7:00 I am focused on my family.
Again, I am so happy to be working with your children and look forward to an exciting year!
