Mrs. Lisa Dorame

Hello Families,

I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful and amazing community of the Matsu Borough School District.  I moved here from Paradise, California in 2019 because I have family here and family is everything to me beside teaching.  Before I moved to Alaska, I had visited my family here several times and falling in love with it more and more each time I came here; I always knew that one day I would move here and teach here.  I was also a part of the historical November 8th, 2018 "Camp Fire" in Paradise CA, which was a devestating fire that wiped out an entire town within 12 hours.  I lost my home during that fire and so did the family I had there; we were dispersed all over the United States to rebuild our lives again and so you see, my push to Alaska came quicker than I ever anticipated and it turned out to be a really good push because I was finally able to come to this amazing state and community to teach.  I have been married for 26 years now, I have three daughters ages 31, 25 and 21 and I have two grandaughters ages 12 and 9.  I have two dogs that I love to go hiking and sledding with so Alaska suites us just fine in that aspect.  On my spare time, I do a lot with my family (husband, daughters and son-Inlaw) and our doggie friends.  I love to explore, hike, camp, go to museums, go out to eat, learn about new things, meet new friends, do artistic projects, dance, listen to music, sing Karaoke, and just being cozy at home watching my favorite TV shows or movies.  More Importantly, I am very passionate about teaching children.  There is nothing more precious than all children and more important than helping these young individuals become competent, educated and productive citizens in our ever changing and difficult world; children are our future and they are worth the investment it takes to make sure they are safe, protected and taught well.  I love teaching all things to students, but I really enjoy teaching Social Emotional Learning, Writing, Math, Science and Art.  I find that there is something magical about reading what students write and seeing what they can create through art; it tickles my heart.  I hope you like what you have read about me and I hope to know more of you as the year progresses.  Please feel free to contact me anytime you'd like to ask me questions, to help out in the classroom or discuss any concerns that may arise.  This is going to be a great year.
