Hello! My name is Kelleigh Orthmann and I am proud to be a part of the Mat Su Day School elementary team! Since 2003, I have taught in both rural and urban Alaska. During my time in the MSBSD, I have been a Behavior Support Teacher and an Intensive Resource Teacher at Swanson Elementary and a 4th grade teacher at Iditarod Elementary.
I fully believe that our students can learn to internalize the social-emotional coping skills taught here while also keeping up with their academics so that they can return to their boundary schools and be rockstars! It's going to be an awesome year full of growth for ALL students. That's my goal and I'm sticking to it!
I was born and raised in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, but my heart has been in Alaska since 1998. Outside of school my interests are spending time with my husband, running, creative writing, yoga, pilates, SCUBA diving, traveling, and advocating for animals. Fun fact: I have 9 cats, 2 dogs, 2 goldfish, and 10 chickens!
