     Welcome to Physical Education!

... where we  learn to move and move to learn!

This School Year Will Look a Bit Different...

Yesterday I painted a "gym" onto the soccer field. That's kind of crazy, isn't it?

As we get ready to begin the new school year, I've spent a lot of time thinking about how physical education can be filled with learning, activity, meaning, and success, all while making sure to keep students safe and healthy in this time of a global pandemic.

The single biggest change will be the location of class. This year, physical education classes will take place outdoors as often as possible. My intention is to continue to focus on the state and national standards, with an emphasis on outdoor education and recreation activities.

Many of the "traditional" sports will be on hiatus this year, and instead we will introduce more lifetime activities such as bicycling, disc golf, hiking, tennis, snowshoeing, snowboarding, and a variety of other outdoor pursuits.

Mileage Club and Healthy Futures will continue, although there will be a few changes to both of those programs - hopefully making each even better!

A perfect word to describe the year ahead is FLEXIBILITY. Of course, as flexibility is one of the five components of health related fitness that we learn about and practice in PE, we'll be in great shape to take on whatever lay ahead!

    In-Person versus Remote Instruction

You will see us masked-up at school, and this is to help our Wolf Pack stay healthy and our school stay OPEN! When we are outside for PE, we can keep our distance and give our masks a break. Ahhhhh! That will feel good!

If school ends up closing down for a bit, your child will be able to access activities, lessons, and resources via the PE Google Classroom for each grade level. This should be online and ready soon, but I will keep my mask-on and my fingers-crossed that we won't need to use it! If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out and send an email. (If you send me your phone number, I will give you a call as soon as I have a few minutes free to talk.)

I am SO excited to see our little Wolves again! Thank you for entrusting your children to all of us at Goose Bay, and we promise to give our all to make it a great year of learning, laughing, and growing for all!
