Mrs. Wendy Taylor

Hello, my name is Wendy Taylor! I am the Teaching Principal at Glacier View School, and I absolutely LOVE my job! This place is my home, it is my family, and I am fortunate to be able to watch students grow into young adults, from kindergarten to the twelfth grade. I'm committed to educating students, colleagues, families, and the community through establishing strong connections. I've had the privilege of working in the field of education for the past 30 years as an aide, special education, K-12th grade teacher, and currently, an administrator.
After growing up in Grove City, Pennsylvania, I attended Slippery Rock University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in elementary and special education. After graduation, I worked as a middle school and high school resource teacher for Mercer Schools. After teaching for five years near my hometown, I decided to look for travel adventures that would end up bringing me to Alaska. In 1995, I packed up and moved to start my career at my favorite place  in the world, Glacier View School!  I was first hired at GV as a tutor advisor and special education teacher.  In 2002, I earned my master's degree in administration and became the Teaching Principal I am today!
I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, rafting, fishing, camping, gardening, and playing fetch with our two dogs. When I'm not working on my school work I like to sew, make crafts, cook, plant flowers, and simply "play in the dirt."
"It is not what is poured into the Student, but what is planted, that counts."
