Hola me llamo Señora Torres.  Hi, my name is Mrs. Torres.  Gracias por visitar mi página.  Thanks for visiting my page.  Soy de Puerto Rico, aunque nací en New Jersey.  I am from Puerto Rico yet, I was born in New Jersey.  Mis padres son puertorriqueños.  My parents are from Puerto Rico.  Vine a Alaska en el 1979.  I came to Alaska in 1979.  Mi esposo y yo nos enamoramos de esta tierra preciosa.  My husband and I fell in love with this beautiful land.
I am very proud to speak, read, and write in two languages.  I wish I knew more than just two languages.  Learning about culture and language is very important to me and I like sharing this gift with anyone that wants to learn another language.  Learning languages at an early age is the way to go!  Thanks for all your support.  I love teaching your children.
I started teaching in 1996 at Chugiak Elementary School, in the Spanish Immersion Program and the regular program at that school.  I taught there for four years and then I went to North Star Elementary to teach six grade. The next year, I started the Spanish Immersion Program at Romig Middle School and taught there for about four years. Then, I went to Government Hill Elementary School to teach 5/6 in the Spanish Immersion Program.  In 2004, I went to Florida and taught there for two years and then worked in a jail.  I loved and missed Alaska so much, that I convinced Héctor (my husband) to return earlier than we had originally planned. I started working at Fronteras when they opened their doors at our old school in Bogard. I have been here ever since.
In my lifetime, I have been a teller, worked for the FBI, Union Oil Company, worked in travel agencies, and even owned my own business! I have enjoyed exploring many careers in my life, but the most rewarding to me is teaching.
Thanks for supporting your child's education. The doors of my room are always open.  Gracias and welcome to my room and Fronteras.  Señora Torres
