Mrs. Rochelle Bushey

Rochelle Bushey is a home grown Alaskan. She was born in Fairbanks and raised in Anchorage and Mat-Su Valley. Rochelle began her professional career in Wasilla as a Social Worker at Lifequest. There she began a collaborative relationship with the Mat-Su School district to promote student success. Some of her positions included: Crisis Intervention Specialist (Mat-Su School District), Crisis Counselor (Alternative Schools), and Coordinator for Choice-Time (a mental health service program for children 3-8 years old). Returning to school in 2011 to obtain a Masters of Arts and Teaching degree seemed like a natural progression of her on-going work to improve student achievement. In addition to her wok in the Mat-Su area she has also served rural communities around the state as a teacher, school social worker, and counselor.

Rochelle met her husband Doug at Wasilla High when he traveled from Valdez to play in the regional high school basketball tournament. Doug and Rochelle have 7 children all of whom have attended Mat-Su schools.
