About me:
I was born and raised in San Diego, CA. I moved to Alaska in 2010 and have loved it every since. I have my BA in Psychology, my Masters in Education specializing in Educational Technology, and am Highly Certified as a Mathematics Teacher.  I have two children who are 10 and 5 years old.  This year will be 7th year teaching mathematics.  I taught two years at Houston Middle School, one year at Wasilla Lake Christian School, and this will be my 4th year teaching at Colony High School. Mathematics is my favorite subject and I am so excited to be teaching it here at Colony.
Blended Learning Experiment
This year we are running blended learning classrooms for Geometry and at times Algebra.  Most teaching lectures will be accessed online, and will be assigned as homework.  Students will have note-taking guides for each chapter where they will take notes.  At the end of each chapter they will turn in their note-taking guides for credit.  During class, we will be spending our time working on different activities to support learning the concepts from the notes.  This will ensure that the teacher is there to help students who may struggle with content presented in the lesson.  If a student misses class, there is an alternate assignment usually from the textbook that must be turned in by the end of the chapter to receive credit.
Quizzes, tests, and projects are assessments.  Missed assessments must be made up within one week. If more test time is needed, the student has the option of only taking one page at a time to allow multiple testing times.  Whatever the student has seen, they must finish in class.  Please make arrangements to work on the test before school, after school, or at other scheduled times to allow for finishing the test in a timely manner as arranged with me.
