My name is Mr. Holbrook and I have a been a counselor with MSBSD since 2017. I was raised in the Mat-Su Valley and am proud to serve the community that I grew up in. Prior to working for the school district I worked for the University of Alaska as an academic and career counselor. I recieved my Bachelor's in Psychology from UAF and my Master's in Counseling from UAA. My career since getting my degrees has been in education and mental health, but prior to that my work experience was mostly in the trades and construction. This background has given me a broad appreciation and knowledge of the different kinds of career paths available to students in our state.
Outside of my job, I am married and have three young children. My wife and I enjoy hiking, fishing, and gardening with our family. Our goal in the summer is to try to grow or catch as much of our own food as possible and to jar or freeze what we can to get us through the winter. Plants are fascinating in how small environmental influences can make big differences in the health and productivity. Children are the same way, just a few small changes can make a big difference in their performance and attitude. I try to keep this in mind and do my very best for our students at Wasilla High School.
