Welcome to Mrs. Johnson’s Kindergarten & 1st Grade class! I was born and raised in Alaska and truly love this beautiful state! This is my seventeenth year teaching and I find I am still learning new things every day. I am married to a wonderful guy who has been making my life more exciting for the past 17 years and we have three incredible kids of our own. I love being outside and doing anything active, reading and baking.
We are having a great year together learning important skills, building new friendships and working together as a team! Our class motto is to be flexible and we are certainly learning this life skill during COV-19 as we are learning remotely for the 4th quarter.
Kindergarten and 1st grade are such important years of discovery! I believe that learning should be fun, engaging and purposeful. My classroom is a nurturing environment in which your child should feel successful and proud of their accomplishments. It is my hope that we can work together as parents, as teachers and family members to support both our students' learning goals as well as help them develop to be truly wonderful little people.
I strongly believe in the power of positive relationships between home and school. I love working with your children and am blessed to work in the wonderful community of Sutton that I was privileged to grow up in. My personal goal is to be available to support your child’s learning. Feel free to reach out to me by phone 861-5616 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Important Links for our Classroom:
Bucket Filling: This is a way of thinking about how we can treat others, how we want to be treated and the way in which we can interact with people in our world. https://bucketfillers101.com/
Love & Logic: I use this approach to interact with students and manage behaviors in my classroom. Feel free to check out their website to learn more.
Google classroom: I use this for communication with students and families. Your students will learn how to log-in to this secure site on their chromebooks.
Lexia Core 5: We use this program two days a week in the classroom to support your child’s reading development.
These two programs offer students access to books at home. These books can be read to them or the students can read them independently. Raz-Kids has books that have been set to their “just right” reading level.
