Mrs. Sunnie Streadbeck

I grew up in Utah and at a young age I knew I wanted to be a teacher.  My Kindergarten teacher was the first one who instilled a love of teaching in me and so I attended Utah State University where I earned my Bachelors degree in Early childhood/ Elementary Education.  I began my career in Northern Utah teaching Kindergarten where I taught for four years.  I then moved home and taught sixth grade for one year before getting married and moving with my new husband to Idaho.  While in Idaho I taught five years in third grade.

When we were expecting our second child I decided to stay at home with my babies and took a three year break from teaching.  After welcoming our third child we made the big decision to move to Alaska.  While we have been in Alaska we have welcomed our fourth child, a true Alaskan. Our family loves hiking, camping, and fishing.  We have a deep love for Alaska with all of its culture and gorgeous scenery.  We are very thankful that we have moved here.

Since moving to Alaska I have taught Widening the Net (preschool) at Butte Elementary; Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and now 2nd grade at Machetanz.  I really loved working in the Matsu Borough School District with the wonderful families at Machetanz. Teaching at Machetanz has helped me grow as a teacher and I owe that to the amazing staff and families who attend here.  My life, and the lives of my children who attend here have been enriched because of Machetanz.  What a wonderful school!!
