Mrs. Andrea Everett
Mrs. Everett is a home-grown Alaskan, born and raised in Wasilla and a graduate of Wasilla High School. Following high school she attended Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, earning her B.S. in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Development. Upon returning to Alaska she married her husband, Reese, and they both completed their student teaching in Mat Su. Mrs. Everett taught 2nd grade for seven years at Big Lake Elementary, then became Instructional Coach at Knik Elementary. During her 6 years as Instructional Coach, she served on the District Curriculum Council, the Math Materials Selection Committee, the District RTI team and was a point of contact for several types of Direct Instruction programs. During this time she obtained her Master's Degree in Educational Leadership through UAA. Mrs. Everett has also been an independent consultant for McGraw Hill Education and traveled or used technology to train teachers in other parts of Alaska. She became Principal of Meadow Lakes Elementary in 2014, then opened Dena'ina as the Principal in 2016.
Mrs. Everett and her husband have two wonderful daughters. She enjoys anything outdoors, especially backpacking trips, fishing, camping, hiking and traveling. Mrs. Everett loves to read and write, but especially loves math and anything to do with space. One of her favorite movies is Apollo 13 because it highlights how a group of people used ingenuity and creativity to collectively solve an unexpected problem. Mrs. Everett believes that kids can do great things when they think creatively, work together, and have a growth mindset!
