Hello! I am Kristy Hales, K-5 ABA Teacher at Larson Elementary. My favorite thing about teaching in an Applied Behavior Analysis program is being a part of teaching students life skills, social skills, and communication and watching students soar!
I grew up with parents who volunteered in the Special Olympics program and fell in love with the students involved and the special educators who worked with them. They're an awesome group! This shaped my desire to become a special education teacher and so I did. I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in 2000, taught for almost 2 years there in middle school resource and then my husband and I started a family. The next leg of my education was becoming a mom to 3 kids and working various jobs from home. In 2009 I went back to the "real" classroom as an intensive resource teacher at Snowshoe Elementary here in the valley. After getting back in the game, I learned about ABA, got some training and promptly found my niche. I have been teaching ABA for several years now and love it-it is the most challenging and fulfilling job I could imagine!
