Hi, my name is Abe Salmon and I’d like to give you a quick snapshot of who I am and what my background is. I was born and raised in Wasilla, Alaska (Settler's Bay area actually). I attended Snowshoe, Goosebay, Wasilla Middle and finally Wasilla High, where I was the top student in the class of 2003. While in high school I lettered 10 times in four different sports: football, wrestling, soccer, and track & field. That's why I'm teaching PE; I love sports and being active! After high school I left the state to attend Western Washington University. I played one year of college football and three years of rugby afterwards. I graduated with honors in 2008, with a bachelor’s degree in K-12 Physical Education and Health. I returned to Alaska after college and worked at Wasilla High as a Health, PE, and Math teacher for the seven years. 6 years ago I moved to Redington and began teaching PE. In addition to teaching, I coached football for 12 years and wrestling for 13 years. I am the head wrestling coach for both the middle and high school teams. In my free time I like to stay active, fish, camp, watch and play sports, relax, read, and hang out with my 2 little boys. I am truly looking forward to helping grow our school and building the PE and the wrestling programs! It's going to be an amazing year! This year I also have a student teacher. Coach Schirack will be by my side for all of 1st semester!
