I was born and raised in Wasilla, Alaska (Settler's Bay area actually). I attended Snowshoe, Goosebay, Wasilla Middle and finally Wasilla High, where I was the top student in the class of 2003. While in high school I lettered 10 times in four different sports: football, wrestling, soccer, and track & field. That's why I'm teaching PE; I love sports and being active! After high school I left the state to attend Western Washington University. I played one year of college football and three years of rugby afterwards. I graduated with honors in 2008, with a bachelor’s degree in K-12 Physical Education and Health. I returned to Alaska after college and worked at Wasilla High as a Health, PE, and Math teacher for the seven years. 5 years ago I moved to Redington and began teaching PE. In addition to teaching, I have coached football and wrestling for 12 years. I am the head wrestling coach for both the middle and high school teams. In my free time I like to stay active, fish, camp, watch and play sports, relax, read, and hang out with my 2 little boys. I am truly looking forward to helping grow our school and building the PE and the wrestling programs! It's going to be an amazing year!
Redington Education Plan
The Matsu Borough has Redington on Yellow Currently. This means students will be responsible for only 3 classes each week and it will repeat every other week. This will continue if we go to distance learning as well. School will only be in person Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Fridays will be Distance learning and are REQUIRED for every student.

The general recommendation is for kids to get at least 60 minutes of moderate physical activity each day, however, please keep the following guidlines in mind:
1) I AM NOT requiring 60 minutes of activity everyday. That is the recommended amount. We only have class every other week, but it would be great if you were active everyday reguardless!
2) Length of workouts vary. The shorter they are, the more intense they should be. Example of a short one: 7 min of burpees (as fast as you can). Example of a long one (20-30 min circuit with breaks built in-plus a warm up and cool down/stretch after)
3) Other activities like snowboarding or hiking are not workouts but are great physical activities so go explore!
If you have specific questions please ask me :-)
I will post fun activities to do on Fridaysl.
If you would like to view the videos I have posted for you child, you can ask your child to pull them up on their computer for you as only students and employees have access to google classroom. They may be helpful for you in assisting your student with their work.
I will try to be as flexible as I can with late work, please just let me know if you're planning on turning assignments in late or if you need extra assistance.
With teachers only having prep on Fridays, grades will not be updated until Friday.
