Subject: HealthAll about me: I am a lifelong Alaskan and this is my 24th year of teaching - 23 years of which have been at PJMS. To my great delight, I am now teaching students who are kids of kids I taught when I first began. What a treat! My husband and I have two sons and a couple of grandkids. We live on a mini-ranch with 2 horses, one dog, four cats, four geese, 4 tropical fish, and 2 resident squirrels. Animal person??? I'm thinkin'! My hobbies are working with horses, gardening, studying Spanish, hiking/camping/boating/fishing. and travel. I have a bachelor's degree in business, a teaching credential, and I earned a certification in special education. I was greatly honored to be nominated by my students and selected as BP Teacher of Excellence for 2017 and KTVA Teacher of the Week for January 2017, awards that recognize the effort that our team - parents, kids, and teachers put forth in educating our PJMS students.I am delighted to welcome my sixth graders and to welcome back my students from last year who are now seventh and eighth graders. I am eager to introduce you to many aspects of your overall health and to teach you such things as refusal skills, making healthy choices, understanding your emotional health, getting and staying fit, caring for the environment, and much more. Knowledge is power and with this curriculum you will be empowered to take charge of your life, learning, and launch into the future. Welcome - I can't wait to get started! :)
