• CMS Honor Band/Choir/Orchestra Ensembles

For 6th-8th grade band, choir and orchestra students.  This is an auditioned group made up of members from all the Valley Schools.  If picked for this, students will be rehearsing in the evening to get ready for the Honor Festival.  Then we will spend 2 days rehearsing with all the other students from the other Valley schools with our guest conductors.  This year's dates are March 24-25 with the concert on March 25 at Colony HS starting at 6PM.
The  proposed 2021-2022 honor rehearsal dates have not been picked (as of 6/28/21).  This is due to the fact that this event may or may not go through this year.  Presently, we have music directors and sheet music already picked and here ready to go.  But the level of the music picked is for Pre-Covid year (2019-2020) students who had a full programs going in the district.  The students this year are not at that level at all as we lost a lot of valuable class time/experiences from last year's events.  The hope is we will have enough students to make this groups, but the reality is we are rebuilding all of our programs in the district and students may not be ready to participate/audition for this event.  We hope to make it work but the Mat-Su music teachers need to meet and figure out what we have to do to adjust to the new reality that we are in.
Normally, rehearsals once picked will follow this rehearal times on those dates.
Orchestra will be from 4-5PM each day
Choir will be from 5-6PM each day
Band will be from 6-7PM each day.
You can see what has been done in the past (below) to give you an idea of what I tend to do.  More info will come as the district makes decisions.
Here is the general 2019-2020 info.  This year will be similar, but practices have not be picked yet (I will get that uploaded closer to Jan of 2019). The mandatory rehearsal schedule, grade policy, and more info is similar for this year:
    1. There will be 4 mandatory rehearsals at Colony Middle School Band Room.

Please see Mr. Lambert if you have questions.

Please read the following statements before signing:

1.Students must make all mandatory rehearsals or they can not go (that includes prescheduled trips,

family activities, being sick or forgetting to come).  That seems very strict, but with only 4 hours of

rehearsal, I need to have them prepared and I need that time.  Note: I cannot make up the final

practice.  If a student misses that practice, they will not be able to finalize their 4 hour requirement.

2.Students are expected to practice their music on their own.  They need to have the music in hand

    before coming to a rehearsal.

3.Students must bring a pencil, music and whatever items they need for their instrument/voice.

    1. Students must be eligible to participate (60% or higher to go-Note-59.9999999% is not 60%)-Grade

    cut off is Mar. 25.

    1. Students will be at rehearsal ON TIME (not 1 minute late) with music/pencil and instrument parts.
