    About Trapper Creek Elementary
Trapper Creek Elementary is the northernmost school in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District.  We are located 30 miles south of the tallest peak in North America, Mt. McKinley or Denali "The Great One" 20,320' with an enormous and vast mountain range descending to the east and west. Trapper Creek community is bordered on the north and west by the Denali State Park, and to the south and east by the Susitna River.
The first organized school was held in a one room cabin on the Porterfield homestead, the first portable was located at mile 121 on the Parks Highway where the current State Transportation shop is, and finally in 1982 the new and current Trapper Creek Elementary School began construction.  Trapper Creek Elementary is still beautiful today and offers students an outstanding education in a caring, collaborative learning environment.  Many students have completed their preschool through sixth grade education here as our small, multi-age classes provide students with a lower student to teacher ratio and more opportunity for peer collaboration.
