Ms. Cheri Mattson grew up in Spokane,Washington. She came to Alaska in 1985,where she attended Wasilla Jr. High andgraduated from Wasilla High in 1990. Shehas two children, Alexis and Andrew. Cheriattended UAA where she got her Bachelor's inEducation. In 2004, she completed her Mastersdegree in Educational Administration throughNational University.
Ms. Mattson has taught eight years in kindergarten, seven years in first grade, one year in second, one year in fourth and was interim-principal at Meadow Lakes in 2005. Fall of 2015 she was selected to be the new principal (and first female principal ever) at Tanaina Elementary.Being a part of educationhas been a dream for Ms. Mattson since she was in third grade. She enjoys giving back by helping form positive experiences for children in their foundational years. She is happy to work with parents in building a solid foundation in education for children to learn and grow! (look for a name change in the near future as Ms. Mattson recently got engaged!)
