Mrs. Bright

I am so excited about the 2021-2022 school year!

This is my eleventh year teaching.  I graduated from Texas A&M Corpus Christi-Go Islanders!!  Even though I am originally from Texas, I've had the awesome opportunity to teach in Texas, New Mexico, and Alaska.

I've taught third through eighth grades, which included teaching a lot of SCIENCE (my favorite), as well as ELA, Math and Social Studies.  This is my first year in kindergarten, and I am SO excited to be with the young learners!

I was one of five teachers chosen to experience microgravity with the NASA Johnson Space Center, and I was the Bastrop ISD District Elementary Teacher of the Year for the 2020-2021 school year.

I LOVE teaching, and I LOVE meeting my students each year!

When I walked my oldest daughter Cameron into her kindergarten classroom, I knew I wanted to be the kind of teacher parents wanted for their children. I went back to college and pursued an education degree.  I started teaching when my youngest daughter, Kayden, went to Kindergarten.  I try to be 'that kind' of teacher each year.

My oldest daughter Cameron is currently pursuing her degree in Elementary Special Education.  She is married to Jared Ballesteros who is also preparing to be a high school English teacher.  My son Karston is a load master in the United States Air Force with a goal to be a pilot.  My youngest daughter, Kayden, is a sophomore at Colony High School.  My husband, Josh, and I have been married for over 25 years, and we look forward to what the future holds for our family in the great state of Alaska!
