COVID-19 School Closure & Coursework Update

  • During the COVID-19 School Closure, class will proceed primarily on Google Classroom.  Please join our Google Classroom from the invite email you have been sent.  Assignments will begin on Monday March 23, 2020 and will be updated each week as we continue to receive updated information regarding school closure.  Students should have their Human Relations Journal in order to work from home.  If you have left your journal at the school, please view the email updates from Mr. Marvel and follow the outlined schedule for coming into the school to pick up any items you need.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact me via email either through Google Classroom, or at I will be available Monday - Friday from 9:30-11:30 AM.


    If you selected that your classes be delivered through Paper/Pencil assignments, I will prepare your assignments and have them ready for you to pick up each week according to the schedule sent out by Mr. Marvel.  This procedure is set to begin on Monday March 23, 2020.

Human Relations Course Information:

  • Human Relations is a trauma sensitive class that focuses on emotional learning, emotional habits, building relationships, connectedness and mindfulness about the self.  It uses the key components of respect and equality to help students build patience, and empathy for others. It promotes a sense of belonging and a genuine understanding of self by focusing on processing through and establishing healthy non-cognitive factors that enhance cognitive learning in other courses.


    **This class meets during Period 6: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Advanced Human Relations Course Information:

  • Advanced Human Relations is a continuation of Human Relations at an advanced level.  Students must have successfully completed Human Relations with a C or higher, and needs instructor approval before signing up for this course.  Students focus on community outreach and education in this course.  They will be trained in S.T.A.R and Navigating Transitions, prevention programs created at the state level that are designed to be lead and instructed by students for grade levels 1-10.  Students will travel to elementary and middle schools in our district to present to younger students on topics such as bullying and suicide identification and prevention.  In addition, students will participate in community service.  The structure of Human Relations is maintained and utilized throughout Advanced Human Relations, however the direction and focus is extended to Leadership and Building Community.


    **Advanced Human Relations is on an every other year rotation.  It will not be offered in SY2020**
