Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Taylor-Woolcott

I am Clarissa Taylor-Woolcott.  I grew up in the small town of Moapa, Nevada.  I attended Moapa Valley High School and graduated in 1996.  Following graduation, I moved to Cedar City, Utah.  There I met my husband and attended Southern Utah University, where I obtained a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education and a Minor in Early Childhood Education.

My career began after graduating from college and moving to Alaska, in 2006.  My husband and I moved to Point Hope, Alaska where I taught pre-school.  Point Hope was a fun and exciting place to live.  I went on many adventures getting to know the beautiful sea, coast, and cultures of the area.  Though we loved Point Hope, the following school year we moved to Kotzebue and taught at the Middle/High School.

I taught for three years at Kotzebue Middle/High School as the sixth-grade math and social studies teacher.  I loved teaching middle school and getting to know the youth of the Kotzebue.  After three years we decided to finish our Special Educational Certificate and start a family on the road system.

So, we moved temporarily to Anchorage where we taught for one year.  I worked as the primary resource teacher teaching and providing support for Kindergarten through third-grade students.  At the end of the year, I had our first child, moved to the Valley, and decided to stay home for a few years.

While home I completed my Master's of Education in Special Education at UAA and had one more child.  In 2015, I worked one year as a Special Education Preschool teacher at Iditarod Elementary.

Currently, both of my children attend their local elementary school and my husband and I teach at Redington Sr. Jr/Sr High School.  I am the new intensive resource teacher.   I teach reading, writing, and math to middle school students.
