High School Tournament (Grades 9-12)
The 2022-2023 High School Tournament will again be an "Open" Tournament, with each participant registering themselves directly with the Tournament Director. Team awards, if applicable, will still be based on the combined score of each school's top players.
****Note: This tournament is being held during the school day, transportation is the responsibility of the student/family (busing to and from CTHS from other schools may be available, check with your school) , and any appropriate permission forms must be filed with each students' school.
To Pre-Register:
Interested students should email Mr. Klauder by April 10th..
Follow this format for the email:
Subject = HS Chess Tournament Registration
Body of email should include: First and Last Name, School, and Grade.
You will receive an email from Mr. Klauder confirming your registration in the tournament.
Walk-In Registration:
Students who do no pre-register can still participate by registering the day of the tournament. However, they must arrive at 8:00am to insure they can be registered before the tournament begins.
Middle School Tournament (Grades 6-8)
We are using the same two-step registration process as in previous years.
Step 1 - Intent to Participate/Initial Roster of (1-10 students)
Each school's chess Coach/Sponsor should email Mr. Klauder by February 15th to indicate your school will be participating in the tournament.
Initial Team Rosters (including players’ first and last names and grades) may be sent with the intent to participate email, but they can also be sent later. All Initial Rosters must be sent in by March 22nd. For the Middle School tournament Initial Rosters will be restricted to 10 students.
Step 2 - Additional Roster Seating Announced
No later than March 29th, Mr. Klauder will send the Coaches/Sponsors of schools that have already sent in full rosters an email indicating the availability of additional seats. This will of course be based on the number of schools participating and the number of unused initial roster seats. Coaches/Sponsors will need to send roster additions to Mr. Klauder no later than April 5th.
If there are still unfilled seats after April 12th, these will be offered in an equitable manner.
