• I feel like the luckiest person in the world because I have the best job in the world! I started teaching in 1996 (20 years ago - Holy Cow!)
I began my teaching career as a middle school special education teacher in Grandview, Washington. While there I got my Master's degree in Educational Administration, and shortly after that moved to Kodiak to work in administration. I loved that beautiful island, and had many wonderful experiences, but missed being in the classroom working with amazing young learners.
After two years in Kodiak, I moved to the Mat-Su and got back in the classroom - my very happiest place! I taught for three years at Houston Middle School, then six years at Wasilla High School, and now teach at the Colony Next Step Program.
I have two kiddos; my son Kurt is 20 and is currently working on Kodiak as a hunting guide and looking forward to starting his continued education at AVTEC in Seward this January. My daughter, Kyla, is a senior at Wasilla High School and a proud employee of the Walmart McDonalds (She will KILL me when she reads this!).
