The Power of One
This book is called Allegiant by Veronica Roth published by Katherine Tegen Books. Allegiant was published in October 22, 2013. The Genre of this book is more like science fiction. Allegiant takes place in a world that looks more into the future in Chicago. They are in a mixture of places from the city to the desert outside of the factions. Tris will face some difficulty and she will have to fight to save the people she loves Tris ventures out beyond the fence and finds that it's more alarming than where she left.
Tris is the reader’s favorite character from this book because it shows how strong and courageous she is. In the book it states that she is the one true Divergent, so she is wanted by many. She shows her wit and rebelliousness throughout the book and People just love it. It makes the people want to be in her shoes sometimes just to experience how it feels fighting just to save someone or to fight for what's right for everyone.
The book's central conflict is man VS. Government the reason for this is the government is trying to get rid of all the failed, or genetically-damaged, and trying to keep all and produce only divergents. They resolved this problem by switching the memory serum to a death serum to kill off some people. This is a group that is formed called Allegiant to fight against the government to try to make things right in their society, to have it safe for people to walk around and not to worry about the government trying to control them.
The story background discusses how a future, ruined Chicago becomes a society that defines its citizens by strict conformity to their social and personality-related affiliations with five different factions, The factions are Dauntless to uphold bravery, Erudite to uphold knowledge Amity to uphold peacefulness, Candor to uphold honesty, Abnegation to uphold selflessness, and Amity to uphold peacefulness. The three different factions Tris tests out of are: Dauntless, Abnegation, and Erudite. This is a universal themed book, because the two books before this one in the Divergent series have almost same theme. Tris tests out for equal aptitude with three different factions: Abnegation, Erudite, and Dauntless. “Tris says, but . . . can I do it myself? Sure, Nita says. She prepares the syringe, filling it with whatever they intend to inject us with, and offers it to Tris” (354). This shows Tris tests out of three factions because she rather do it herself then have other people do it.
I rate this book with 4 out of 5 stars because the book is a mixture of a romance novel, science fiction and I love books with romance makes me want to keep turning the page. I think young adults that like romance novels would absolutely love this book, before reading this book I would recommend reading divergent and then insurgent first by Veronica Roth. Thank you so much for reading my review, I hope you liked it!
