Welcome to Mat-Su Career and Technical High School Nurse Page

I am so excited to be working at CTHS this school year!  I have been a school nurse for the past seven years and I am a proud graduate from the University of Alaska Anchorage School of Nursing. I have been honored to devote my career as a school nurse to help advance the well-being, academic success, lifelong achievement, and overall health of students. My passion is to help maximize the health and well-being of our students here at CTHS so they may attain the most from their quality education. I believe all students should have a school nurse. If you would like a glimpse into the role of a school nurse, please see the brochure Alaska School Nurses Make a Difference.  I welcome any questions or feedback, so please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, email, or stop by my office.  Please feel free to explore the links to the left to find school district medical forms and helpful website links. Please know that I am available and here to help your student and family. I look forward to working with you!

Kindest Regards,

Sonja Mack, BSN, RN, NCSN

Information on how to protect yourself & others from Coronavirus (COVID-19):

The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. See helpful tips below from the CDC on how to minimize your risk of contacting this virus.  Simple things such as knowing how the virus spreads, washing your hands, avoiding close contact-especially when others are sick, keeping your social circle small, covering your mouth & nose with a cloth cover when out in public, covering your coughs & sneezes, not touching your face, and cleaning & disinfecting frequently touched surfaces daily can help you reduce your risk of becoming sick.

Cloth Face Coverings

A tool that can help to minimize transmission of COVID-19 while people are around others outside of their household is the use of face coverings. Please see State of Alaska DHSS Health Alert 010 for  recommendations regarding the use of cloth face coverings and their website regarding cloth face coverings.  Here is also a short video from the surgeon general on how to make your own simple face cloth covering.
