High School Athletic Eligibility Information
The Mat-Su Borough School District has recently changed the regulations for extracurricular and co-curricular eligibility. In the past, eligibility was only checked at the end of the semester. Starting this fall, eligibility will be checked at the end of first and third quarter as well as at the end of first and second semester. Students will need to maintain a 2.0 GPA during quarter or trimester academic periods. This change allows students more opportunities to earn the minimum GPA required to participate.
The NCAA sets standards for college-bound student-athletes interested in participating in Division I and Division II colleges and universities. In order to compete in the NCAA you have to pass certain eligibility criteria. This is a completely separate process from college admissions with standards set by the NCAA.
