• Artist in Residence Request

    10/21/13

    Hello Cottonwood Creek Families,

The Artist in Residence program has a long history of success at Cottonwood Creek because it is a community effort.  Our families come together year after year in coordination with the school to make the program a great one. We are really excited about the upcoming Artist in Residence program starting next week on Oct. 28th. We will be working with Michael Daquioag as he shares his passion for rhythm and drumming with the students.  Every class will have the opportunity to work with him during the two week residency with a culminating performance event at Teeland Middle School on Friday, Nov. 8th at 7:00 p.m.

We need your help once again.  Mr. Daquioag is coming from Kodiak and will be staying here for two weeks.  It is our responsibility to find housing and transportation for him during the residency.  We also provide lunch every day at school and many families have invited the artist to their homes for dinner as well.

    Transportation Needed:

Thank you to Nurse Chapelle for providing a place to stay. However we are still in need of finding a vehicle for the artist to drive while he is here.  If you have an extra vehicle that you could spare during the two weeks it would be GREATLY appreciated.

    Lunches:

The staff will provide lunches for the artist during the first week of his residency but we are asking 5 families to provide lunch during the 2nd week of the residency.  If your family would like to volunteer please let us know at the office.

    Dinner or an Activity:

If you would like to invite Mr. Daquioag to dinner with your family or to join you for an activity, please let us know and we can help schedule that.

We like to give our artists a feel for what it’s like here in the Mat-Su with a big warm welcome. Please contact the school at 864-2100 if you can help with a vehicle, lunch or dinner.

    Thanks,

    Lisa Vrvilo + The PTO
