Reading:  Reading with your child 15 minutes each night will help them become stronger readers. They should practice their sight words, then read to you or you can read to them. At this stage (early Kindergarten), students are encouraged to look at pictures and tell stories about what they see, look for letters or sight words they do know, and listen to books read to them. This is all considered reading and can be marked on their homework log.
Math will not be assigned as homework this year. Instead, we will do the math pages as morning work, correct it together, and discuss strategies. We feel this will be a better format for teaching kindergarten skills.
Homework Challenge Students will be given a calendar with numerous activities to complete throughout the month. Hang this on your fridge, select what activities you'd like to complete each night and return it at the beginning of the new month.
Grading in kindergarten: Students will be scored on a 4, 3, 2, 1 rubric.
    4 - exceeding expectations
    3 - meeting expectations
    2 - needs a little support
1 - cannot perform at grade level and needs extra support
