    Your job as a salmon biologist researcher is to learn more about the Pacific Salmon life cycle, identify characteristics and hazards of each life stage, and determine your role in sustaining the Pacific Salmon life cycle.

    HOW CAN WE PROTECT AND SUPPORT THE PACIFIC SALMON?

    Your Task:  During this WebQuest you will act as a researcher to:
    • learn about the salmon life cycle.
    • learn about the salmon habitat.
    • identify hazards that may threaten salmon survival.
    • identify opportunities for you to support salmon survival.
    • organize your research, analyze your data, present your findings.
     
    The Process:  You may work individually or with a partner to complete this WebQuest.  Begin with the resource section on this WebQuest.  These resources will launch your learning; however, you are encouraged to gather additional information by visiting the classroom, school, and public libraries.  You may also visit a variety of websites to gather additional information as well as the local fish and game management department.  
     
    While you gather research data, you will keep notes regarding each task point listed above.  Additional information recorded will extend your learning and that of your peers.  I encourage you to share your findings throughout your WebQuest as conversation generates more learning, more questions, and furthers your understanding.

    Findings:  As you begin to analyze your data, you will notice some common information strands.  These commonalities are important for you to understand in order to determine what your role is in supporting the salmon life cycle.  When you prepare your presentation, you may use any method of your choosing.  Consider preparing a book, singing a song, writing poetry, designing a game, teaching our class, constructing an artifact, etc.  The possibilities are endless.  If you have trouble thinking of an idea, contact me for additional support.
