Palmer High School is the only school in the Mat-Su Borough School District to offer International Baccalaureate (I.B.) courses to its students. I.B. courses are rigorous, college-preparatory courses for high school juniors and seniors. Participation in I.B. courses is optional, and the level of participation can range widely--from taking classes on an interest-only basis to participating in the full diploma program. There are three levels at which students can participate in the I.B. program. Students can take I.B. classes based on their interests and opt out of taking formal I.B. exams in the spring. Students can take I.B. classes and register to take the formal exams in the spring, or students can participate in the full diploma program, where they take an I.B. course in six subject areas and participate in Theory of Knowledge, CAS, and write an extended-essay.The following documents provide more information on the I.B. program at Palmer High School. If you have questions or would like more information, contact Nichelle Henry, the I.B. Program Coordinator.
