• The IB Group 1: Studies in Language and Literature program is a two-year, higher level course that includes four separate classes: Humanities, Classical/World Literature, Modern Novel, and Literature and Ideas.

    These courses focus on developing students' ability to read, write and think critically about all genres of writing.

    Assessments include the Individual Oral Presentation, a world literature essay, an oral commentary and two written exams.

    IB Literature 1, Fall Semester
    Works studied: American Short Stories, American Poetry, The Handmaid's Tale
    IB Assessment: Individual oral presentation

    IB Literature 1, Spring Semester
    Works Studied--Henry: Chronicle of a Death Foretold, Madame Bovary, Ghosts
    Works Studied--Fournier
    IB Assessment: World literature essay

    Modern Novel (fall of senior year), taught by Mr. Baker
