A comprehensive k-12 school counseling program is an essential and integral part of the overall educational process built on the belief that certain academic, career and personal/social objectives are attainable only when school counseling services are available for all students.
The school counseling program is coordinated with other educators incorporating a comprehensive curriculum. The school counseling program assists students in acquiring and using lifelong learning skills through three broad and interrelated areas of student development: academic development, career development and personal/social development. More specifically, school guidance and counseling programs employ strategies to enhance academics, provide career awareness, develop employment readiness, encourage self-awareness, foster interpersonal communication skills and impart life success skills for all students.Student growth and learning are developmental therefore, school counseling must be developmental and sequential.
The mission of the Career & Technical High School counseling program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental, systematic counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social development of all students. The counseling program is both preventive and proactive. In collaboration with other educators, parents or guardians and the community, the CTHS counselor facilitates the support system to ensure all students at CTHS are educated and supported to reach their full potential.
