            The MSBSD school closure has been extended through Friday, May 1st.  Schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday, May 4th.


            The health and safety of our students, teachers, staff, and Larson family members is our top priority. The MSBSD has created a website specifically designed to house the most updated information regarding the virus.  Please visit the website below for up to dateinformation and important resource guides.

            All MSBSD buildings are closed to the public through May 1st. If you need to access the building or staff, please call the Larson Front Office at 907-352-2300 or call the MSBSD Administration Building at 907-746-9200 to make an appointment.

            Hello Larson Families!  My name is Hannah.  I belong to school psychologist, Susan Giblin Ed. S NCSP. Miss Sue visits Larson Elementary a lot!  I've had the opportunity to spend lots of time with the students at this great school.  I am here to help us get through the COVID-19 situtation.  I know it is an uneasy time for many of us.  I will be making videos to share with you that will help you through this tough time.  ENJOY!

            The Can Food Drive Challenge was a HUGE Success!

            The PTA donated over 4,000lbs of food to the food bank on Friday, February 7th! Thank you to all our generous families for your support of this fun competition. Here are the results:


            1st- Larson with 2,418 items
            2nd- Tanaina with 1,983 items
            3rd- Shaw with 1,008 items


            Simply INCREDIBLE!!! Congrats to all 3 schools and we look forward to next year!!

            A big shout out to our school classroom winners:

            Mrs. Spindler's class came in first place with 392 cans collected.

            Mrs. Chamblee's class came in second with 353 cans collected.

            Flag Retirement Ceremony


            Thank you to our Larson dads, Reed Vukelic and Brett Nye for honorably retiring our torn and tattered American flag. We are proud to be flying our new one!

            Native Youth Olympics District Meet


            NYO Athletes took part in the NYO District Meet at Houston JR/SR High on Friday, January 31st (5th and 6th Grade Events) and Saturday, February 1st (1st-4th Grade Events). 

            Larson’s Junior Native Youth Olympics team collected 14 medals at the district meet Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, four of them gold medals.

               Mylz Mongeau won the one-foot high kick and also placed third in the scissors broad jump.
               Wyatt Lund grabbed gold in the Eskimo stick pull, Olivia Fuller was the arm pull champion and gold in the seal hop went to Conner Belliston.
               Silver medals went to Callan Knutsen in the Alaska high kick, Carl VanBlarcom in the two-foot high kick and Rylynn Armstrong, also in the two-foot high kick.
               Bronze medalists included John Bennis in the Alaska high kick, Layken Wright in the Eskimo stick pull, Karli Lane in the wrist carry, Easton Cook and Macie Hatfield in the two-foot high jump and Zane Armstrong in the seal hop.
               The state JYNO meet begins Friday, Feb. 14 UAA’s Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

            2020 Geography Bee

            Larson Elementary had a Geography Bee on January 23rd.  

            First place winner was Ian N.; second place winner was Keith Hales.; and third place winner was Dylan Mead.

          • Thank United Way, Project Thrive!

            Project Thrive grant money is helping our Larson students build independence and personal health and wellness.  The grant is helping to support family education and skill building outside of the school setting.  Students are learning to thrive in an environment that suppports healthy choices. Thank you, Project Thrive!
