"The Alaska Principals Foundation is proud to announce that Caleb Beauvais has received the 2016 Commissioner’s Scholarship. Mr. Beauvais is a 2016 graduate of Burchell High School in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District. The Commissioner’s Scholarship recognizes academic excellence in graduating high school seniors and will provide Mr. Beauvais with $10,000 toward his education at the Matanuska-Susitna College in Palmer. Then-Interim Commissioner Dr. Susan McCauley of the Alaska Department of Education and Early Development selected Mr. Beauvais out of 25 graduating Alaskan high school seniors who were all 2016 BP Alaska Principal Scholarship recipients. Dr. McCauley said, 'I am proud to select Caleb Beauvais as the 2016 BP Principal’s Scholarship recipient. Caleb’s tenacity and self-reflection will serve him well as he undertakes college studies. I am confident that Caleb will make Burchell High School and the state of Alaska proud!'"
The 5th grade class from Cottonwood Creek Elementary put together 100 paper flowers to show their support for our students. This was a difficult week for our school after the loss of one of our own. It was just what the students needed to lighten their hearts!
Breanna Brevak, Michaella Schneller, & Zoe Sarabia spent the last week working hard to make and deliver coffee to students and staff at BHS each morning. They saved all of their tips and donated them to BHS daycare worker Darlene Sperry to help buy healthy breakfasts and lunches for children of BHS teen mothers. The three girls saved over $40 in tips to donate & have plans to continue donating where there is a need. Click to read more!

Spring Break for Mat-Su students and schools is March 13-17. If your child attends a non-traditional MSBSD school, please follow your school's calendar. Friday, March 10, is a work day for teachers (no school for students). This quarter ends March 9.
