Brought to your student by the
Mat-Su Health Foundation
Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from

Recently
Talkeetna Elementary was granted money from the Mat-Su Health Foundation School
to promote physical activity and healthy eating among students and staff. Grant dollars will be used for the following activities:
1.
After school
physical activities on Tuesday 3:00-4:00 pm
2.
Healthy cooking
classes on Thursday from 3:00-4:00 pm
3. Purchase additional cross
country ski gear that can be rented to students
4. Purchase
additional snow shoes for use during recess and classes
5.
Provide nature
walks and guided skiing after school or on weekends
It is hoped
that we can assist with transportation.
A few details need to be worked out first.
These
opportunities will be free to children, except equipment rental.
Parents and
community members are welcome to submit activities.
Students
recently took a survey and Tuesday activities will be based on these choices or
choices of students attending. The first
Tuesday, Jan. 21, will be Dance Party in the gym using the Wii. A large amount of students could attend the
Tuesday activities. Spaces are limited
for the cooking classes.
Preregistration
is necessary. If students sign up for an
activity and cannot attend, please call the school so we can keep track of
attendance and transportation.
