  • MSBSD 2014 SBA/HSGQE THIS WEEK

    It is time! Standards Based Assessments and High School Graduation Qualifying Exams beginning Tuesday, April 1. Every child in third through tenth grades in our District as well as the State of Alaska will be assessed through the state tests. Testing will conclude on Thursday for all but 4th, 8th, and 10th grade students. Children in these grades will test on science on Friday. Students will demonstrate their knowledge in reading, language arts, and math. Read for tips....

    Hosted by the Mat-Su Borough, the community had an opportunity to hear first-hand about the newest high school, slated to open in the fall of 2015. Attending the meeting was Caleb, a student at Iditarod Elementary, who made his own drawing of the new school. He hopes to enroll when the new school opens.

        • Good morning, PJMS students and staff.  Today is Friday, April 18, 2014 and it is a “C” day.  Please stand and face your flag for the Pledge of Allegiance. – PLEDGE –

           

          8th graders – Promotion pictures or $$ payment need to be submitted to your sixth period class teachers ASAP.  If you choose not to purchase the pictures, just bring back the packet.  Failure to return pictures or money could result in loss of participation in end of year activities. 

           

          The final Student Advisory Board meeting of this school year will be held next Wednesday at the District office.  Thank you to our 2013/14 reps – 8th graders Gillian Galloway, Mary Tucker, Julia Scully and 6th grader alternate Duncan Forrest. 6th and 7th graders who are interested in serving on this board next school year, please stop by the office to pick up an application packet.

           

          Good luck to our NYO athletes who will be attending the Palmer NYO Invitational tomorrow!  Go MOOSE !!!!

           

          Talent show practice will take place on Monday right after school.

           

          CSI Forensics Camp

          The Fraternal Order of Alaska State Troopers is sponsoring Forensics Camp from June 9th-13th for middle school students. Participants visit the State Crime Lab and the Alaska Department of Fish & Game’s shooting range and learn the scientific methods used in solving crime from the state’s leading detectives. Students study the methods of drug analysis, ballistics, crime scene investigation, DNA analysis, blood spatter analysis, handwriting comparison, and fiber analysis. The MSBSD will cover half of the cost for the first 50 students to apply. For more information see Ms. Berkley.
