  • CAPTURING KIDS' HEARTS NATIONAL SHOWCASE SCHOOLS

    The MSBSD has two of the 11 showcase schools in the Flippen Group's National Showcase, Wasilla High School and Sherrod Elementary School. These schools are two of the pilot schools beginning the three-year District journey to building stronger relationships between adults and students in schools.   • HOUSTON HIGH HAWKS HELP OUT A HAWK

    Principal Bill Johnson said, "The welding class supports our community." Welding teacher, Benjamin Parker said his class welded a perch for the Alaska Wild Bird sanctuary in Houston. Jeanette brought "Rhett", the red-tailed hawk for a visit.

  • PALMER HIGH IB VISUAL ART SHOW

    Shelli Franckowiak and her IB art students held the annual visual art show. Prior to the public event, she reports, "We had nine professional artists and Unviersity art professors attend this year.   • KEY CLUBS PROVIDE SECURITY THROUGH BLANKETS

    Each year, Colony High and Palmer High Key Clubs partner with Palmer Kiwanis to provide security through blankets with Sherrod Elementary K-Kids. "In its fourth year," reported CHS teacher, Melody Mann, "we made 21 blankets together." Annie Benson is Sherrod's K-Club adviser. Benefitting The Children's Place.

  • ELEMENTARY SCIENCE O IMAGINATION MEETS KNOWLEDGE

  • VALLEY JAZZ FESTIVAL IS AN IMPROVISATIONAL TREAT

    Hosted by Palmer High School, Stan Harris, music teacher, the 1st Annual Valley Jazz Festival brought 10 middle and high school choirs and bands to the stage at Palmer High School for the Friday evening concert and to Glenn Massay Theater for the Gala.   • "5-4-3-2-1 LET'S HAVE A PARADE" FROM COLONY HIGH SCHOOL

    The invitation to join Macy's Thanksgiving Parade lineup to Colony High School Marching Band, Thee Northern Sound under the direction of Dr. Jamin Burton. Macy's Executive Producer of the Parade, Amy Kule, Wesley Whatley, Creative Director, and Christine Olver, Macy's Media Relations were in Alaska from New York to personally invite the band and shower the students and staff with a confetti parade.

  • WASILLA MIDDLE SCHOOL'S VIRTUAL REALITY EXPEDITIONS

    Provided by Google Expedtions Pioneer Program, librarian/media specialist Carrie Day organized 20 classes in 30-minute sessions offering students options of 150 expeditions which includes 360 virtual reality field trips. Read more...

        • arrow MSBSD START TIMES - 2015-2016
          School start/end times will remain the same for the 2015-2016 school year.
          Elementary schools time is 9:15 to 3:45.
          Middle/secondary schools time is 7:45 to 2:15.
          There are exceptions for northern schools:
          Willow start time is 8:20. Dismissal at 3:00 on M, Tu, Th, Fri & 1:40 on W.
          Talkeetna begins at 8:30. Dismissal at 3:00 on M, Tu, Th, Fri & 1:40 on W.
          Trapper Creek begins at 8:30. Dismissal at 3:00.
          Su Valley Jr/Sr High School begins at 8:30. Dismissal is at 2:54.
          If your child attends a charter school, confirm the time with your school.
