Hosted by the Mat-Su Borough, the community had an opportunity to hear first-hand about the newest high school, slated to open in the fall of 2015. Attending the meeting was Caleb, a student at Iditarod Elementary, who made his own drawing of the new school. He hopes to enroll when the new school opens.

Traveling to Milepost 104 on the Glenn Highway, the School Board held a September meeting at Glacier View School, a K-12 school. Wendy Taylor is principal. Welcoming the School Board to Glacier View, Mrs. Taylor also introduced sophomore, Sheridan Pegg. Pegg led the Pledge of Allegiance. He is a contributing student writer to the Schools Page published on Tuesdays in the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman.
Opening soon, we can learn how to safely navigate the new traffic pattern near Colony Middle and Colony High schools. The Alaska Department of Transportation provides helpful tips and tools for safe travel in a roundabout—like the newly constructed roundabout near our Colony schools.
Students have the day to enjoy the Alaska State Fair while MSBSD employees participate in Opening Day, professional development for the entire District at the Menard Sports Complex. And, Monday, the MSBSD observes Labor Day, so no school for students or staff.
Buses will be rolling in Mat-Su beginning early morning Thursday. If you still need to register your child, registration is open online--if you need assistance, you may come to the District Admin. Building in Palmer, or receive help at any Mat-Su school. Sign up for i-Parent now.

The school services families from Chickaloon (Milepost 76) to Mendeltna (Milepost 143.) and provides public Kindergarten through 12th grade education. From our south-facing windows, we enjoy a breathtaking view that is unparalleled in the great State of Alaska.
We would like to personally invite you to our exciting school event! We have scheduled a building dedication ceremony/potluck for Sunday, March 3rd at 4pm.
