American Charter Academy is one of the Mat-Su Valley’s smaller schools, offering families and students a choice to their neighborhood school. Enrollment at American Charter requires an application and interview. A standards-based education model (requiring students to master all standards at a proficient level before moving to the next level), is used with our place-based core knowledge curriculum. Students are expected to keep on track with homework and class activities completed on time or ahead of schedule.
Students wanting to apply themselves in a rigorous academic environment to prepare for success after graduation (postsecondary education and/or the workforce) are a good match for AMC.
A new addition to our standards-based offerings is our blended learning environment. Whether your student is in 2nd grade up to graduation, we provide teacher led discussions and instruction along with computer based learning. Using a blend of delivery methods (computer, teacher, hands-on projects or experimental labs and working with other students), students are able to accentuate their strengths and work through their weaker areas.
Along with instruction in classrooms, American Charter also offers a wide variety of place-based opportunities (making use of the bodies of water and other land formation for science, etc.) and outdoor activities including biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and camping.
