ANSEP ACCELERATION HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM

The ANSEP Acceleration High School is a program housed at Valley Pathways.  This program is a full day, full year, school based opportunity that will offer dual credit enrollment for MSBSD students at no cost.  The target population is students who will be in grades 8-11 during the 2017-18 school year.

Dual credit enrollment means that students have the opportunity to earn high school and college credits simultaneously providing a great acceleration opportunity for students and a post-secondary cost savings for parents. Go to the following link for details: http://www.ansep.net/high-school/acceleration-high-school

This exciting opportunity will have limited seating available and does require an application.  Applications are now being accepted for the Fall Semester 2017.

The ANSEP Acceleration High School Program application is now LIVE and available for all students in grades 8-11 through the district iStudent and iParent accounts.  After logging in, parents/students will see a link to the ANSEP Acceleration High School Application.  Preference for acceptance into the ANSEP Acceleration High School Program will be given to students who are Algebra I ready by 8th grade.  A completed student application must contain the following (current students DO NOT need to reapply):

Student Application Form

Current Science and Math teacher recommendation

Most recent school transcript

500-word essay on “How do you plan to contribute to the future of Alaska”

Due to the University partnership at the heart of this opportunity there is an Accuplacer requirement.  The Accuplacer is a college entrance exam and students are assigned courses based on their knowledge of mathematics and language arts. It is strongly recommended that students enroll in the Accuplacer tutorial.  Directions for enrollment in the tutorial can be founded at the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B9OaZIVXjPK7QkR1c2FjaTdncjQ/view?usp=sharing

It is recommended that students spend 2 weeks using the Accuplacer tutorial prior to testing.  Students who are active on the tutorials prior to the test will receive a test fee waiver.  To register for the Accuplacer test go to the following link:
