Academics

Graduation Requirements

The Superintendent shall prepare for Board approval a plan consisting of district graduation requirements. Students shall receive diplomas of graduation from high school only after meeting the following requirements: Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District diploma may be issued when a student has acquired a minimum of 21 credits in required and elective subjects and has successfully completed all sections of an approved graduation qualifying examination.

    Electives are additional courses in Language Arts, Social Studies, Math, Science, Career and Technical Education, Fine Arts, World Languages, and/or Physical Education.

      *In addition to obtaining the 21 credits needed for graduation, all students will need to pass all three sections of the High School Graduation Qualifying Exam (Math, Writing, and Reading. These minimum requirements may not suffice for some post-high school programs, college admissions, NCAA Clearinghouse, etc.
