  • MSBSD 2014 SBA/HSGQE THIS WEEK

    It is time! Standards Based Assessments and High School Graduation Qualifying Exams beginning Tuesday, April 1. Every child in third through tenth grades in our District as well as the State of Alaska will be assessed through the state tests. Testing will conclude on Thursday for all but 4th, 8th, and 10th grade students. Children in these grades will test on science on Friday. Students will demonstrate their knowledge in reading, language arts, and math. Read for tips....

          All powderpuff players will have practice from 2:30 – 3:30 this Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

           

          School pictures are in and you may pick them up during lunch.  You will have to be patient and you will have to sign for them.  During lunch only.

          ALERT to all High School Senior Girls! 17th Annual NFWL/NRA Bill of Rights Essay Scholarship Contest is

          underway. Applicant must be sponsored by a legislator. Six females will receive $3,000 scholarships and

          all-expense paid travel to the Philadelphia Conference. Deadline is September 22, 2014

           

          The class of 2017 will be selling Italian Soda’s every Monday and Friday in the Snack Shack beginning next week. They are $2.50 each!

           

          If you worked in the garden and have a community service log please turn that in for Mrs. Humphreys to copy.  Thank you!

           

          If you are interested in learning how to be a Barista and work in the Red and Black Coffee Shack please see Mrs. Humphreys in the front office for your application and more details. Opening closes on the 30th so get your application in now.

          Is your class ready for Homecoming? Homecoming is fast approaching. The theme for the homecoming floats is Greek gods/ halftime Friday the 19th at the homecoming football game. Spirit week will run from the 15-the 19th with an assembly/ Powder puff game schedule on the 19th. The Homecoming Dance is Saturday September 20th from 8-11 admission will be $7.00. The theme for the dance is Greek Mythology.

        • Arrow MSBSD START TIMES - 2014-2015
          School start and end times will remain the same for the 2014-2015 school year. Elementary schools time is 9:15 to 3:45, and middle/secondary schools time is 7:45 to 2:15. There are exceptions for northern schools: Willow start time is 8:20 and dismissal at 3:00 on M, Tu, Th, Fri, and dismissal at 1:40 on Wed. Talkeetna begins at 8:30 with dismissal at 3:00 on M, Tu, Th, Fri, and dismissal on Wednesdays at 1:40. Trapper Creek begins at 8:30 and dismissal at 3:00. Su Valley Jr/Sr High School begins at 8:30 and dismissal is at 2:54. Also, if your child attends one of our six charter schools, confirm the time with your school.

        • Arrow HELP MSBSD "STUFF THE BUS"
          School is two weeks away and many students in the Mat-Su Valley do not have the resources they need for their first day of school. That’s exactly what Stuff the Bus is aiming to help with. July 31 is a Day of Action! Parnering with United Way of Mat-Su, the MSBSD will be filling backpacks in the old Carr's parking lot in Palmer, providing school supplies for Valley kids. The following items are needed for donations; backpacks, spiral notebooks, pencils,and pens. Families needing school supplies for their students can call746-9239 for more information.
